Saturday’s Coffee Meetup took place at Josephine’s Café, tucked inside Joe Freshgoods’ new retail concept, “Every Now & Then,” in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood along the vibrant Chicago Avenue corridor. Beyond the café, the thoughtfully curated retail space features apparel, accessories, and a striking selection of stylish New Balance sneakers, one of my favorite brands.
Opened in July 2026, Josephine’s Café, named for Joe Freshgoods’ grandmother, was conceived as a neighborhood gathering place where thoughtfully prepared coffee, light café fare, and community come together under one roof.
The hospitality reflected that vision. Shalona and Darrien delivered warm, attentive service that earned an A+ and helped make the visit especially memorable.
I chose a pour-over coffee, carefully poured from a stainless-steel brew container. The result was a smooth, flavorful cup. The café also serves a selection of pastries, freshly squeezed lemonade, and a variety of other beverages.
Tucked behind the café is a privately fenced outdoor patio, offering a peaceful retreat from the energy of Chicago Avenue.
